Public Speaking: Malaprops

A malaprop is an absurd misuse of words. It may be that the very words out of sound (sadistic and statistic) or from explanations that make no sense. You can use this connection as a means of public mood during the conference. Consider some classic examples:

Casey Stengel

* I wish you all the second line up in alphabetical order of their size.

* I think I begin to be made of scrap.

* If people do not come with the baseball stadium,no one can stop them.

* There is a déjà vu All Over Again.

Goldwynisms

In 1940, the movie mogul Sam Goldwyn misused language so much that malaprops Goldwynisms was known as.

* A verbal contract is not worth the paper it is written.

* I have read some of it to the end.

* I never liked it, and probably still do.

* Every Tom, Dick and Harry called William.

* For your information, I have a question.

* NowMen, listen slowly.

* In two words: im-possible!

* Include Me Out

The great comedian Norm Crosby, the best estimate for standing ovulations when you see, it's known, has a life outside the ingenious abuse of words. In real life, but they are usually very malaprops of people still do not know, his fox paws.

A friend of mine, a fundraiser for a society without art name, suffocating in Washington, DC, and spoke to me of a funny incident that took placeduring a meeting. The director had no sense of humor at the conference table in an attempt to put it right, an out-of-control meeting back on and said: "I fear that our conversations are Tangenital matters in hand." Tangenital! My friend looked around at the other participants, all defend laugh. She had been from the meeting for an excuse to keep the right to laugh in the face of the old windbag.

A flexible public speaker, it would be really in touch:

1.realized his mistake,

2. laughed at himself, and

3. comedians used to get the attention of all contingencies so that they gain control of the session.

Someone should really experienced people make the mistake on purpose. I learned in my years of writing comedy sketches that are many times the error much more fun with the agenda. Now I'm planning to error if any. To make this more foggy, I'll explain in a sentence. I learned that if I plan somethingand then I ruined the plan, the plan is more fun than the plan to use, so I now plan to put in disorder, the plan is intended to be more fun than a plan that is expected to be confused. Got it? Well, why does it loud and clear what I write here, so bunglestand need.

Malaprops can be used for fun or to attract attention, while a serious issue. Take for example Sam Goldwyn's classic "A verbal contract is not worth the paper it is written." I do not thinkTo find out if Sam said on purpose or not. In 1940 did not ask about it. I know that the message is clear and the test of time. If he had simply said that he recalled "Contracts should be in writing?"

malaprops use in the presentation, but make sure the duck is obvious, or you think your audience is, not too light. If you do get caught in an incorrect use of a case, you must acknowledge your mistakes. If you do not missPublic think about the stupidity of a few minutes after the fact. You'll also notice that you are trying to remain perfect robot that could make it impossible to be an error. This off and communication very difficult.

All you need is to detect the fault, find a quote from Mark Twain and turn it. Talking to a private, ad libitum humorously prepared:

"F Mark Twain, more than one word in a magical way, I wouldbe able to say a wrong word at the right time. "

If you do not like that, ad lib-up on your own. For an effective presentation, you must appear in human speak. People make mistakes. This is part of life. As Archie Bunker says, "the case closed, ipso fatso."
