Success is a choice

This item is not for slackers. E 'for those of us, a desire to succeed in life and businesses. If you look closely at all the major organizations are a common feature between them and the top that is a work ethic second to none.

But because some of us have and others do not?

I think it's a matter of understanding a simple fact of life, and that is "Success is a choice." We decide whether we succeed or not to do.

When I taught executiveLeadership courses I did not use prefabricated materials. Instead, I followed a style of leadership I believe in; Pitino believe the idea of free will.

Rick Pitino and I have similar views, and even though I'm not a basketball fan, it's my favorite coach. If you remember, led the Kentucky Wildcats, a spectacular national championship in 1996, and here's a quote to use, even if I still have strong teams.

"What is true is on the basketball court in the economy and life. They want to be successful? Okay, then succeed. He deserves it. How? Outwork everyone in sight. Junk. Go the extra mile. But what do you need the heart and soul into everything you do and share. Let it all out on the field. "

"But this will not happen unless they let you choose.

Success is not a fluke. There is no divine right. It is no accident of birth. Success is a choice. "

Now, please think of 30 CEOs and VPS seated around a large conferenceTable> Washington, DC. And most of them there because they felt it to be and not because they wanted to.

Imagine that I was still before them, ready and willing to large rockets of wisdom to start an informal group of leaders to grasp.

Consider again the meeting felt that begin with this statement:

"You do not deserve success, I know, but you do not."

As expected, there was an eerie silence and I could almost hear thefunny comments explodes in their collective mind. "If you think you are!" I smiled and continued winning.

"I deserve success because I believe that success is a choice we make. Let's see a show of hands, if you agree with me on that statement." No show of hands in this set.

"So, who would like to say that I'm wrong?" I asked.

"I will tell you that flat-out wrong. I'm bringing people with more than 30 years and I'm here to tell you, not everyone canSuccess! n 'Smug' Lovin 'wrong.

"Can you tell me why you think that's true?" I reply quick notes on the blackboard. (Do not go back to a hostile audience).

"Of course. There are many reasons.

1) It may not have enough education,

2) O Front Line management experience, or

3) support at home or at work. I have all these famous people cause failure. "

"I see Well, let's examine the first. Education = Success. Our premise is now, if you do not have enough formal education that may have happened. Right? "Everyone nods.

"Even I can not do well if I did not really the front line management experience. Is?" A few heads nod.

"Finally, you can not prosper unless
satisfactory support at home or at work. Thus,
And 'our belief. Does anyone see anything out of place
in our argument? "

It soon becomes clear, areBasics illogical when viewed in black and white.

Fast, Mr. Smug n 'Loving You start tap dancing. "I mean are the reasons that contribute to school failure," he snapped. All heads up and down on his smart recovery by Fred Astaire.

"I agree that the causes are often thought to contribute, but the question on the table is that we, if we believe that success is a choice we make, though." Most of the heads bob and weave with a heavy heart, if n Loving Smug '"E 'tubes again.

"Sure. I'm just deciding on these three factors, our
Success. That is all. "I smile, and pass.

"Great. Let us have some of the common denominator may be found to develop into successful people," and I list them on board.

1) build Self-Esteem

* Everyone likes to feel appreciated and encourage good leader
Self-esteem within their team.

* To meet high trust. On the other hand are often blurred and a bit 'Underachieversfrustrated. They tend, for reasons of environmental protection responsible for their failures, and are difficult to process.

2) Set ambitious targets

3) is always positive

4) was good habits

5) master the art of communication

6) learns Role Models

7 lives) print

8) be persistent anger

9) Learning from adversity

10) Survive Success

** If you can not sit back and think the job is finished. The work is never finished. The real success is replicated, copied and constant.

"This list represents the basic principle that earn our first win. And if you constantly practice these 10 steps are worthy of our reward."

"It 's clear that everyone in this room, you unconsciously accepts these 10 steps." All 30 Execs smile their agreement, and we break into groups to further define our action plans.

In this way, I'll be stopping at a product and not a book on howbring their teams to victory.

However, it does not matter what you want: to lose weight, stop smoking, to be rich, be famous, be happy, yes ... Gap.

"But this will not happen unless you make it happen. Success is not a fluke. It is not a divine right. It is no accident of birth. Success is a selection of choice."

The first time you earn the right to succeed, you succeed.

I will be with you when you leave, Mr. Smug n 'sharesLove is generous and he shook my hand and said, "Dev, I will follow you wherever you go."

Follow me. I'll show you how successful online in the life and practices of traditional business e.
